PERSONAL CAPACITY PROGRAM

Regain Control

Practical strategies to rebuild routine, confidence and participation after illness, injury or major disruption.

When daily life has been disrupted for a long time, people can lose confidence in their ability to manage routines, make progress and reconnect with activities that matter. Regain Control is an 8-week structured program focused on practical self-management, confidence and gradual re-engagement.

Who may benefit?

Feeling overwhelmed

Everyday demands feel difficult to organise or manage following disruption.

Reduce Confidence

The person feels less confident in their ability to make decisions, take action or try new activities.

Difficulty Rebuilding Momentum

They need structure and practical strategies to restart routines and move towards meaningful goals.

What the program focuses on

Each topic should be positioned as practical capacity building, not as diagnosis or clinical treatment.

Routine and Pacing

Building manageable routines and balancing activity with rest so progress is realistic and sustainable.

Managing stress and difficult moments

Learning practical strategies to notice stress responses, reduce overwhelm and respond more deliberately.

Habits, goal and motivation

Breaking larger goals into achievable steps and developing routines that support consistent action.

Confidence and participation

Practising skills that make it easier to reconnect with people, activities, community and, where relevant, work.

How it works

Understand the starting point

Clarify what is getting in the way, what matters to the person and what manageable progress would look like.

Build practical strategies

Introduce simple tools for routine, pacing, stress management, communication, goals and habits.

Practise and adjust

Apply strategies between sessions, notice what works and adjust to the person’s circumstances.

Plan what comes next

Identify the routines, supports, connections and next-step activities the person can continue after the program.

What progress may look like

More predictable daily routines

Greater confidence taking manageable action

More effective self-management strategies

Increased readiness for social, community or work participation

For Referrers

Regain Control can complement other treatment or rehabilitation where the person would benefit from practical capacity building between clinical care and fuller participation in everyday life.
